WRAD Health welcomes East Warrnambool donation

East Warrnambool Football Netball Club may have disbanded but its legacy will live on thanks to a series of local donations, including to WRAD Health.

As part of its official winding up, the club has distributed $22,000 to local not-for-profit organisations. This includes $2500 to WRAD Health.

Treasurer Julie Scoble said the club had decided to distribute its remaining funds to local community organisations, focusing on those used by members.

“We have had a lot of members utilise the services at WRAD over time and we were keen to support them” she said. “We thought WRAD was a good community-based, not-for-profit organisation that provides a valuable service to the community.”

WRAD Health CEO Alister Stevic said the club’s donation was appreciated and would be used to strengthen health services for the community.

“These funds are incredibly valuable and will help us strengthen our services for the community, ensuring people can continue to access affordable, high-quality healthcare on their journey to health and wellbeing,” Mr Stevic said.

“We have a passionate and highly capable team who work hard every day to make a meaningful impact on peoples’ lives and this financial support enables us to continue delivering meaningful care through initiatives such as our free GP clinic and alcohol and other drug support services.”

The club has also donated to the Neil Porter Legacy $6500, South West Neo Natal Unit $2000, Warrnambool Community Gardens $1500, Neighbourhood Community Centre $1500, Wish Collective $1000, Warrnambool and District Angling Club juniors $1000 and Allansford and District Angling Club juniors $1000. 

It has also donated $5000 to the Warrnambool Historical Society and gifted its memorabilia to the society.

“We’re pleased that if anyone in the future wants to find out about the East Warrnambool Football Club can go to the historical society and find photos, information and memorabilia online,” Julie said.

Over the past few years, the club has donated money to the Warrnambool District Football Netball League and other groups. This included $15,000 to Warrnambool Hospice in the Home from 2023-2025 and $5000 to Merri River School in 2025 to purchase new outdoor table tennis table and equipment.

The club also donated to WDFNL players via a player apparel subsidy in 2024 and 2025 worth $7000.

The final allocations were all for outside not-for-profit organisations that members have used over the years.

East Warrnambool Football and Netball Club was formed in 1907 and won premierships in 1967 and 1995, the latter by 143 points which remains a WDFNL record. It disbanded at the end of 2025.
