Collecta-Bool 2012 was Collecta-Bool 2012 was the most successful yet, with more than 700 people coming through the doors on April 7 at the Wannon Rooms. There were 48 separate exhibits, a substantial increase from about 30 in previous years. Many of the exhibits were presented for the first time.

An extensive marketing campaign, particularly well supported by sponsorship radio advertising, the attraction of valuer Rick Milne, and lower entrance fee of a gold coin donation paid off.

The increase in attendance was significantly better than expected and more people attended on one day than had attended over two days in previous years. The range of exhibits also improved on previous years and both halls of the Wannon Rooms were packed. The exhibits included bottles, M+Ms, telephones, tools, toilet cisterns, breweriana, Dr Who, Elvis, Pokemon, sci-fi, movie posters, old records, magazines, dairy memorabilia, swap cards, radios, CDs and mystery items.

Melbourne `guru of garbage’ Rick Milne valued nearly 120 items for more than 70 people and proved to be a major draw card. Music and a barbecue added to the festive atmosphere.

The event was also well supported by sponsors and raised a small profit to help WRAD’s programs.
