Warrnambool’s proposed residential rehabilitation facility is closer to reality with $550,000 already raised.
The campaign to establish The Lookout is enjoying community support through a fund-raising appeal.
The Lookout facility will be a 20-bed rehabilitation centre in Warrnambool.
Warrnambool Rotary clubs have contributed to the fund-raising tally and Rotary Club of Warrnambool Daybreak has committed $10,000 to the campaign over the next three years.
President Jan Read said they had made the promise to The Lookout as it was a much-needed facility.
“We do quite a lot of fund-raising throughout the year,” she said.
“We have a barbecue at the summer markets and we always run a long lunch in March.”
Ms Read said Warrnambool “really needed” a residential rehabilitation centre.
“I think it’s long overdue,” she said.
The Western Region Alcohol and Drug Centre (WRAD) has committed $600,000 to the new centre.
Community pledges of $550,500 have been made so far.
People will also be able to directly donate to the campaign at www.wrad.org.au or at the ANZ Bank.
